Nada Surf - Beautiful Beat

from their 2008 album Lucky

i think i’ve posted this song on this blog before or maybe another song from this album, but how can i not? this is a great album and definitely one of my favorites of 2008.

your local record store probably has this album sitting on their shelves. do yourself a favor and pick one up.

Neko Case on Fallon

Neko Case stopped by the “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” show last night and performed the track, “Red Tide”, from her most recent album Middle Cyclone.

The Roots didn’t perform with her, even though that would have probably been pretty awesome. It was still a great performance nonetheless.

check it out below.

Julian Casablancas just kicked off his month long gig in LA. from the reviews it sounds amazing, and i’m not surpirsed at all, from the visually stunning set to the brilliant productions, it’s supposedly out of this world. If you havent picked up his debut solo record yet, Phrazes for the Young, be sure to do that ASAP. it’s an amazing album, and i’m going to go as far as calling it one of the best albums of 2009. so check it out. Also if you’re in or around LA, you should definitely try making it to one of his shows, i’m sure it’ll be worth your time. check out his setlist below (courtesy of SPIN)

Dear and the Headlights - Run In The Front

from their 2007 debut album Small Steps, Heavy Hooves

I’m pretty sure i’ve written all i can possibly write about this band in some of my previous entries. It’s safe to say they’re one of the best bands out right now, and they definitely put on phenomenal live shows. bands like DATH restore my faith in music, and they’re an example of the raw talent that if you look well enough, can be still found in music in this day and age. The passion in the lead singer’s voice, and the creativity and originality of their lyrics just makes them stand out from almost every other band out there, and i can’t begin to express how much i’m excited about their continuing growth and success. if the rest of the music community takes a note from them, i’m pretty sure music will be back to what it was in it’s prime.
